Microsoft and Chevron Plan Large-Scale Natural Gas Data Center Project

Microsoft and Chevron signed a 20-year power purchase agreement for a 2.67-gigawatt natural gas plant in West Texas, called Project Kilby, to power AI data centers. Power delivery begins in 2028, making it one of the largest co-located gas-and-data-center developments in the U.S. — and a public concession that AI's energy demand has outrun renewable supply.
